Cash For Your Warhol: Fund Your Startup!
August 14, 2015
BLDG proudly announces Cash For Your Warhol: Fund Your Startup! an exhibition exploring the intersection of art, money and entrepreneurship by conceptual artist and photographer Geoff Hargadon. The show opens on September 10th during UPSTART (NKY entrepreneurship festival) with a guest lecture by Hargadon at 6:30 p.m. followed by the opening party from 7 – 10 p.m.
A wealth management advisor by day and stealthy street artist by night, Hargadon is the genius behind Cash For Your Warhol (CFYW), a street art campaign begun in response to the financial crisis of 2009. Installations in Boston, Miami and New York City re-appropriated bandit signs announcing ‘Cash For Your Gold’ with quirky messages such as “Cash For Your Warhol – Higher Prices – Lower Fees! – 617-553-1103” or “Cash For Your Warhol – Free Authentication Services!” The elaborate prank gained him international acclaim and served as poignant commentary on the consumption and commodification of art.
Fund Your Startup! is an extension of the CFYW campaign and focuses on the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. In partnership with BLDG, a guerilla style street campaign, complete with messages proclaiming ‘Fund Your Startup!’ will pop-up throughout the region on advertising campaigns, billboards and public installations prior to the event. The actual gallery show will feature limited edition signs, stickers, photography and a newly published print release.
